President Uhuru Kenyatta has hinted on why his administration has spearheaded the increase of police officers in Kenya.
Speaking on Friday after the overseeing the pass-out of close to 7,000 police officers President Uhuru said t that there is need to have more police officers during this elections year.
“The need for a strong police force is further heightened by the reality that we are in an election year,” said Uhuru.
According to him, we have a history replete with scenes, which, in a democracy that should be a cause for celebration, degenerate into violence.
Secondly, he said there was the need to cultivate trust and confidence both domestic and foreign which largely depend on the security of a country.
Also, he said that there is need to create employment to the youth so that they reduce the number of those who engage in crime. He further said that there is a need for Kenya’s economy to continue to grow and create jobs for our youth.
President Uhuru also said that our Vision 2030 will remain a mere dream unless we secure our nation. He additionally said that, that is a burden we all bear, but it weighs especially heavy on our disciplined forces.
Meanwhile, the president urged every Kenyan to be on guard against politicians who profiteer from spreading hatred and violence.
