Do not vote for a candidate simply because of their party or last name

Madness could be defined as the act of doing something over and over again but expecting a different result each time. Makes sense doesn’t it?

Going by this definition, then we as Kenyans are mad! Let me explain. Elections are around the corner, aspirants have begun silent campaigns with some going the extra mile of putting up billboards and posters in their bid to make their intentions known.

Over the next few months we will be subjected to manifesto after manifesto. The usual promises of “If you elect me I will do this and that” will take center stage.

Not once or twice have people regretted their choice of candidate shortly after they have been sworn in. All the promises become empty. The problems he/she said they will solve remain unsolved. We then vow to elect a better man/woman next general election only to replace one bad leader with another one and expect them to deliver. That is the very definition of madness!

I dare you to do something different this time round. I dare you to regain your sanity. This can only be done by voting in competent people who have our best interest at heart and not their own personal agendas.

Do not vote for a candidate simply because of their party or last name. We have done that so many times and look at where it has got us. Take your time to scrutinize every candidate. Learn to tell whether that person is a politician or a statesman.

Let you not waste another five years crying of poor leadership while you had the chance to do different.

“A politician thinks of the next election while a statesman thinks of the next generation.”
