Of typical campus politicians and their funny traits

At first, you won't even pick them from a crowd. They're just like the normal comrades you meet every day as you leave/head to class. Well, wait till power/struggle for power comes in. The introverted Odhis you knew will be all new to you.  Suit & tie; you’ll know he's a campus politician when he suddenly rises from T-shirt and jeans to suits and ties. The ones in my school have a thing for blue suits especially after one very influential personality first donned that some years back. Since they're new to this mode of dressing, most of them get it all wrong all the time.

One time they're in burgundy pants and ill-fitting blue coats that break all the rules of fashion and the next time you see them in funny Ankara prints that leave you wondering why they struggle to represent all African countries in single attire. Some, however, know how to piece it together and end up looking really good.  Baby, Uhunye is my guy. I don't know why almost every campus politician always wants to identify with who's who in the political and corporate world. You'll hear them talk about how they were having brunch with Manu Chandaria the other day while strategizing on a couple of issues. They'll be quick to attend all political rallies that come their way and make sure they don't miss out on the much famed 'selfie moment' so that they can get something tangible to prove to you how close they are to the president.

Second, I bet you have come across a group of young men and women walking around in groups of either five to ten or more people in your school. They’re always seen paying attention and keenly following a conversation led by one gentleman/lady usually in the middle or slightly ahead of them. They'll traverse every corner of the varsity while campaigning in the day and just like Jesus did with the disciples, they'll partake in last meal of the day before they're commissioned to go spread the gospel of who is fit for what political seat.

There’s something about campus politicians that always leaves me in awe; know it all. I'm surprised at how all these politicians always seem to be conversant with every single happening in the school while in the real sense just like me and you; they're still trying to put two & two together to get to the root of the matter.
