Is 2016 redrawing the political map for Butere Constituency?

2017 is a year of hope, transformation and change in the political outfit for the people of Butere. A center that has been known to produce gallant men of influence to the Nation of Kenya. Just to mention a few; H.E Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, Dr Amukowa Anangwe, The late Martin Shikuku, Allan Wanga, Andrew Toboso and many others.

It is a region that falls within the sugar belt zones, producing high tons of sugarcane. Butere has been known for its cool weather, fertile soils, reliable rainfall and exorbitant green cover.

As 2016 folds up and 2017 approaches, political temperatures have been rising day after the other. The National Assembly seat has attracted several aspirants including;

  1. The Incumbent Hon Andrew Toboso
  2. Businessman Tindi Mwale
  3. MCA Hon Habil Nanjendo
  4. Advocate Achero Omufuayia
  5. Julius Matendechere
  6. Mohammed Munyanya

The aspirants have been seen engaging in community development work including table-banking, digging of water boreholes, contribution in Harambees and general public support.

According to a survey Tindi Mwale a businessman based in Nairobi led the track with 62.65% followed by Hon Toboso with 22.35%, MCA Habil Nanjendo came third with 6%, Julius Matendechere 4%, Achero 3% and finally Munyanya with 2%.

The survey was carried out in the 5 wards; Marama Central, Marama South, Marama North, Marama West and Marenyo Shianda.

The aspirants garnered results basing on the participation in the community service work including Projects. A higher percentage of the respondents felt dissatisfied by the current governance stating that their pleas had long been ignored.

Mr Tindi Mwale enjoyed support across the 5 wards due to his projects that he initiated for the people of Butere. Some of the projects include:

  1. He runs an office dubbed "Butere Vision Development Forum" located at Sabatia-Butere hosting more than 50 Employees.
  2. Tindi Mwale clean water project so far 8 sites have benefited from free water boreholes and pumps. Namely; Manyala market,Emuleche, Eshirotsa sublocation,Shibuche primary,Shianini primary, Lunza secondary,Etuti and Bulanda Shimkoko.
  3. Stima mashinani projects has seen about 1700 homes within 600metres from the transformer to receive power by the end of 2016.
