Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i faces legal hurdle in bid to hire Garissa Univerity bosses

Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i is embroiled in a legal battle over plans to recruit the Garissa University principal and deputy.

Hassan Ali, through lawyer Catherine Mwangi, said the constituent university lacks a properly constituted council as required by law and the new bosses could not be hired until the issue was resolved.

Certifying the matter as urgent, Justice Weldon Korir ordered the respondents to appear before him on May 3.
