Furore as ‘kanjo’ mistakenly injures female passenger seriously

One passenger boarding a motorbike was seriously injured by a county government officer in Kisii town.

According to an eye witness, the officer was trying to restrain the ‘boda boda’ operator when his ‘rungu’ missed the ‘boda boda’ and landed heavily on his female passenger. She sustained bruises on her back.

The incident brought Kisii town to a stand still as irate and charged residents demanded to know why the ‘kanjo’ decided to injure innocent passengers. They even threatened to attack county government officials.

Onlookers were left wondering whether the county government security officers are trained before being assigned duties.

“This is abomination; we cannot accept such heinous acts to go unpunished” said an eye witness.

The incident got the attention of police officers on patrol and they arrested the ‘kanjo’ and headed to the governor’s office.

Confirming the incident a police boss said that such acts will not be entertained because county government officers should protect citizens but not harm them.

“This is unacceptable because security officers should protect citizens but not harm them” said the police.

He further added that ‘boda boda’ operators should respect the county government’s rules in order to avoid those areas they are restricted from passing through.
