Peter Oliech, 22, a Fourth Year student at JKUAT has spent weeks in a hospital bed because he cannot raise the more than Sh650,000 medical bill.

Oliech was just two weeks into his internship at the Equitorial Commercial Bank in Eastleigh when as usual he went back to campus to play soccer on September 28, 2015.

It was while playing with other students that he fell to the ground after a tackle in te process hitting the ground with his head.

He had to be rushed to Nairobi Women’s Hospital along Ngong Road where his bill has increased tremendously.

“We were playing football when an opponent tackled me. That is when I tripped and hit the ground head first,” Oliech told Campus Vibe.

“I left Juja for home immediately after. I was in a lot of pain. I boarded a matatu and when I alighted, I could not move, so I slept by the roadside for about two hours only to wake up at about 9pm and walked home in Kariobangi North.

I lost consciousness on reaching home only to wake up at Kenyatta National Hospital. He would later be rushed to Guru Nanak where a CT scan revealed he had a blood clot. He had actually severed a blood vessel in his neck. At Nairobi Women’s Hospital he was operated on successfully. He has since struggled to rise the bill.
