Police are following credible leads that will help them rescue a University of Nairobi student who was kidnapped after leaving class at the institution’s Kisumu campus on Friday. Mercy Awuor Gache, (above) a First Year student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Project Planning and Management did not reach home after class. Her father, George Gache, a pastor at Covenant of Peace Church, said his daughter sent her mother a text message telling her she was done with class and was headed to their house in Milimani at around 8pm. Kisumu County Police Commander Nelson Njiri confirmed that they had received reports on the kidnapping but they could not divulge much information as that would jeopardise their mission. He said the kidnappers were yet to contact Mr Gache after doing so initially when the girl was kidnapped.
