Pray for post-election violence victims also

The lives of both the accused and the victims of the 2007/08 post-election violence are sacred and should always be treated as such.

I do respect the current prayer crusades for Deputy President William Ruto. However, what the crusaders fail to include in their prayer agenda is the invocation of God’s intervention for the justice to be done to the accused and the victims.

Mothers, sisters and daughters who were raped and maimed experienced pain and still reel in metal torture. Indeed as I always do my prayers to the victims of PEV, I always invoke the will of God. The clergy who lead the crusaders should also know this better.

As I do my prayers, I do not forget also to mention to God that the prayer crusades for our DP should not serve to strengthen his case in The Hague. This is because even the informed lawyers who are schooled in matters of the law have turned to pour vitriol on the ICC, terming it a kangaroo court as they do their prayers.

These ‘renowned’ lawyers have forgotten the repercussions of being in contempt of court and this is why they may be strengthening the ICC case instead of doing good to our DP.

Prayers should be done in humility devoid of name calling and accusation. Both sides require God’s intervention. The side that will gain justice is the one that prays with humility and sincerity.
