TURKANA; KENYA: One person was shot dead and two critically wounded when armed Pokot raiders attacked a village in Turkana County. The attackers ambushed and rounded up Lokwaar villagers in Nakwamoru sub-location, Turkana South on Thursday afternoon. They fired indiscriminately at locals killing one person on the spot and critically injuring two including a Standard Four pupil at Nakwamoru Primary School.

Turkana South OCPD John Bosco Muutu said among those killed are a man, 57, while a pupil, 12,  sustained serious gunshot wounds. He said the raiders also razed down at least 20 houses during the raid, rendering the victims homeless.

“It is unfortunate bandits are also targeting school children and burning houses. But we have beefed up security to forestall any further attacks,” Muutu said.
