County acquires four ambulances worth Sh19.6 million

Healthcare provision in Kirinyaga County received a major boost after the government acquired four fully-equipped ambulances worth Sh19.6 million. Governor Joseph Ndathi while flagging off the ambulances in Kutus on Thursday said his administration had targeted to acquire 20 ambulances.

“We are also planning to rehabilitate all hospitals, health centres and dispensaries,” said Mr Ndathi.

He announced that a call centre would be set up to allow quick response to emergencies. However, the governor disclosed that insufficient funds had hindered his government from effectively tackling challenges in the health sector.

He said they had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kenya Medical Supplies Agency to ensure steady supply of medicine. He also unveiled three garbage collection trucks acquired at a cost of Sh24 million.
