Governor's plea on resettling squatters

Governor Patrick Khaemba has urged the national government to intervene and help resettle thousands of squatters, currently living in the county.

He said the county has the highest number of landless people in the country, adding that this had resulted in the region’s slow growth and insecurity.

“This county has the highest number of landless people, most of who squat on public land meant for public amenities. This has become a challenge to the county’s socio-economic status,” he said at a public forum on land, in Chepchoina settlement scheme in Endebbes sub-county.
