META Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg recently underwent knee surgery following an injury he sustained during his martial arts training.

In an Instagram post, the 39-year-old mentioned that this injury has prevented him from participating in an upcoming fight he had been preparing for.

“Tore my ACL sparring and just got out of surgery to replace it. Grateful for the doctors and the team taking care of me. I was training for a competitive MMA fight early next year, but now that’s delayed a bit,” read part of the post.

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a crucial ligament responsible for knee joint stability, connecting the thighbone to the shinbone.

Nevertheless, Zuckerberg reassured his fans that he intends to compete once fully recovered.

“Still looking forward to doing it after I recover. Thanks to everyone for the love and support.”

Zuckerberg has not only been taking part in martial arts competitions but also engaging Elon Musk, the Tesla CEO in a mixed martial arts cage match in Las Vegas since June.

This year, Musk had posted on his X account that the fight between him and Zuckerberg will be live-streamed on the platform formerly known as Twitter.

"Zuck v Musk fight will be live-streamed on X. All proceeds will go to charity for veterans,” read the post without further details.

Musk, via his posts, was also seen lifting weights in preparation for the fight adding he did not have time to work out.

When a user on X asked Musk the point of the fight, Musk responded by saying "It's a civilized form of war. Men love war."

The uproar began when Musk said in a June 20 post said he was "up for a cage match" with Zuckerberg, who is trained in jiujitsu.

A day later, Zuckerberg asked Musk, 51, to "send location" for the proposed showdown, to which Musk replied "Vegas Octagon", referring to an events center where mixed martial arts (MMA) championship bouts are held.

Musk then said he would start training if the cage fight took shape.
