Accept that nothing remains constant, all things change

English novelist Israel Zangwill remarked that everything changes but change. It is not clear what prompted him to make that remark, but what is known is that it is a fact of life that nothing remains the same.

However, there are instances when we never want to accept the fact of life, that is change, and adamantly refuse to move on, or to move with the times.

Of course it is not wrong to ask questions, or to try to find out how a particular action will impact your life, but it is not right to resist change just for the sake of it.

Many are the instances when we fear the unknown, and instead of hoping for the best, or thinking positively, we concentrate on the negative aspects, and get lame excuses of not wanting to move on.

Ideally, when we are out to find faults, we will never miss them, and we will find faults with even those who are dearest to us, or those who have made us what we are.

And we can concentrate on looking for faults so much so that we lose focus of the bigger picture that might be beneficial to our livelihoods.

In the process, we will spend so much time looking back, and getting annoyed at events past, which if anything, never affected us negatively.

Going forward is a natural process. Moving on is inevitable — and that is why it has always been said that no one can stop an idea whose time has come.

Nearer home, Kenyans increasingly resist change even without examining how their lives will be affected.

Call it herd mentality, but it is not something that should happen in a country that prides itself as being a regional powerhouse, and which hopes to attain certain goals that will propel it to even higher heights by the year 2030.

The point is, we should not be averse to changes just for the sake of it. We should be able to embrace new developments, for even the Earth is not static.

Have a progressive day, and enjoy the week ahead.

Cheers
