William Ruto’s daughter ties knot with Nigerian fiancé

Deputy President William Ruto’s daughter June Chepchirchir tied the knot with the love of her life Alexander Ezenagu yesterday.

The two exchanged vows in a colourful wedding held at the DP’s residence in Karen, Nairobi, yesterday.

It was an invite-only ceremony attended by Ruto’s political allies and close friends. The guests included elders and prominent personalities from the Rift Valley.

A jubilant Ruto and his wife Rachel walked the bride down the aisle as guests cheered on. The father of the bride wore a black English tuxedo complete with a bow tie and matching hat while his wife wore a pastel ruffle asymmetrical dress complete with a matching fascinator and clutch bag.

The lady of the moment had a strapless creamy white train gown and priced dangling earrings. The bridegroom looked dapper in a fitting navy blue four-button tuxedo.    

The bridesmaids were dressed in blush strapless dresses with complementing open-toe gold sandal heels while the groomsmen complemented the bridegroom’s look.  

The aisle had a magnificent transparent mirror, with the side décor a mixed blush of pink and white roses that matched the bride’s bouquet.

Luxury cozy folding wimbledon chairs formed part of the décor essentials, a lush garden affair depicting the royalty and majesty that comes with the trappings of power.

Sources close to the family told The Standard that Ruto’s sons had their suits designed by a Kenyan fashionista. Most of the event suppliers were also local hospitality providers.   

While June – who holds a degree in International Communication - works as a diplomat serving as Kenya’s Charge D’Affairs in Poland, Dr Ezenagu is an assistant professor of Taxation and Commercial Law at Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar.

“My daughter June Ruto works with the Foreign Affairs and she got a foreigner to be her spouse. In whatever plan, have God in the equation,” Ruto had earlier joked during the annual national prayer breakfast held in Parliament grounds, Nairobi.

Prior to yesterday’s wedding, the two hosted their families to an engagement ceremony traditionally referred to as Koito in Kalenjin tradition at the same grounds on May 8.
