Handball: Nairobi Water beat MKU to reach finals

Defending champions Nairobi Water Queens stormed to the finals of this year’s Kenya Handball Federation Super Cup after thrashing MKU-Thika 41-12 in a one-sided match played at Nyayo Stadium yesterday.

The two-time champions will now face KDF in the finals today and team coach Jack Herbert is confident of retaining the trophy.

“I am happy we played well today. The girls were in top form and winning by that greater margin is a show of confidence and resilience that we need if we are to defend our title. We are relaxed and ready for the finals,” Herbert said.

KDF, on the other hand, qualified for the finals after edging out National Cereals and Produce Board in a tight score of 28-25.

In the men’s category, Strathmore whipped Tigers 45-13 as NCPB defeated Rangers 33-30. NCPB later recorded their second win of the day by thrashing KDF 31-25. 

The men’s final group games will be played today with the semis later in the day.
