Wayne Rooney ‘set to land £52million as part of new Manchester United contract’

MANCHESTER: Wayne Rooney is set to pocket a cool £52million if he signs a new contract at Manchester United.

The England striker, who was subject of intense interest from Chelsea in the summer, has enjoyed a stunning start to the season after putting the transfer speculation behind him.

And reports now suggest that United want to finally end talk over his future by offering him a new four-year-deal.

It’s claimed that the Old Trafford club are already in the process of putting together the paperwork, which would see Rooney pocket £52million in wages and bonuses across the length of the deal.

The 28-year-old is seen as a crucial part of David Moyes’ plans moving forward, and the former Everton boss is keen to conclude the extension before the January transfer window.
