Homeboyz picked their second consecutive win of the season after edging out struggling Top Fry Nakuru 33-15 in a Kenya Cup match at Jamhuri Grounds on Saturday.

The win continued Homeboyz resurgence in the league after a poor start saw them lose their opening three games of the season against Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) RFC, defending champions KCB and Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad.

On the other hand, Nakuru headed into the match hunting for their first win of the season.

The visitors started well after taking the lead through Gideon Mbithi’s unconverted try.

The hosts responded with Felix Odhiambo crossing over and Amon Wamalwa converting for a 7-5 lead. Wamalwa added a penalty for a 10-5 lead.

Before the break, Homeboyz took 18-5 lead after Brian Mutugi went over for the hosts second try and Wamalwa adding a penalty.

In the second half, Dan Githanga pulled back for Nakuru but it would count for nothing after Mohammed Omollo stretched the lead for the deejays with a penalty as the scores went to 21-10.

Tom Maina joined the scoresheet with the third try for Homeboyz and Omollo converted for a 28-10 lead.

Augustine Lugonzo came off the bench to score the final try for Homeboyz.

Elsewhere, MMUST registered their third straight defeat of the season after going down 25-24 to Strathmore Leos.
