Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga has said that the coalition is ready for talks with President William Ruto led Kenya Kwanza coalition.

Speaking on Tuesday, August 1, after meeting the coalition's Parliamentary Group, Odinga said that the coalition is also committed to the talks.

“We had a fruitful discussion with our coalition's Parliamentary Group, confirming our commitment to engage Kenya Kwanza in talks while keeping true to our ideals and objectives,” he said.

The meeting was held at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation where the coalition resolved to support the Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka led team that will hold talks with Kenya Kwanza.

Kalonzo will be joined in the talks by Democratic Action Party of Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa, Ugunja MP and National Assembly’s Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi, Nyamira Senator Okong’o Omogeni and Malindi MP Amina Mnyazi.

The meeting was attended by 65 Members of Parliament.

Kenya Kwanza is expected to reveal its five member team for the talks and issues it wants to be discussed in the coming days.

For Azimio, the issues they want to be discussed are the high cost of living, an audit of the 2022 general elections, inclusivity in national affairs, bipartisan reconstitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission and the respect of political parties in line with the Constitution.

Other leaders present at the meeting included former Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria, Roots Party Leader George Wajackoya, Party of National Unity Leader Peter Munya, Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni and former Laikipia Governor Nderitu Murithi.
