The Italian duo of Goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and defender Giorgio Chiellini have renewed their contracts at Juventus.

The club made the announcement on Monday, June 29, confirming the world cup winners have both extended their stays at the club by a year.

"Probably each of us hoped, and basically knew, that the thread that united us for so many years was not destined to break," Buffon said following signing the deal.

The 42-year-old goalkeeper left Juventus for Paris St Germain last year, but came back to Turin, and now holds the record for the most appearances in Juventus’ Serie A history.

"Super Gigi is proof that age is only a number. With today's renewal, if it is even possible, he is even more Bianconero - and we can only be happy with it. A legend. A player, who is simply, infinite,” said Juventus.

Their captain, 35-year-old Chiellini also expressed delight at extending his contract. The centre-back has made 509 appearances for Juventus in 15 seasons.

"He is Chiello, our Captain. And the story is not over, far from it,” said Juventus while making the announcement.
