Ole Gunnar Reserve keeper Grant is the oldest member of United's squad to make the trip at 36, while the other three players are all in their teens.

Solskjaer's comments would suggest the other stars who have featured for United previously will make up the rest of the side.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Man Utd will hand four players debuts in their starting line-up against Astana on Thursday.

The United boss has selected an inexperienced team for the trip to Kazakhstan with his side needing just a point to confirm their path to the knockouts.

His 18-man squad includes 10 players yet to make an appearance for United, with the others largely fringe players.

When quizzed on who will be in his starting XI at a press conference on Wednesday, Solskjaer said: "It’s Lee [Grant], you’ll see [Ethan] Laird, [Di'Shon]Bernard and [Dylan] Levitt from the start so you’ll definitely get a few."

That includes Luke Shaw, Jesse Lingard, Axel Tuanzebe, James Garner, Jesse Lingard, Tahith Chong, Angel Gomes, and Mason Greenwood.

Also among his squad is 19-year-old Max Taylor, who just 12 months ago was receiving treatment for cancer and has battled back to earn his first senior call-up.

Asked how he thought the match will pan out, Solskjaer added: "I think this is going to be an even, tight game.

"We have some young players. If they’re going to learn to play this games I think it’s a great start for them.

"Not expecting them to dominate but we should compete and challenge.

"If we went with every first team player then maybe we have a better chance to win the game.

"But this is the right decision and it’s going to be a great game of football."

More than 300,000 people have applied for tickets for the clash at Astana's 30,000 capacity stadium as locals prepare for one of the biggest games in the club's brief 10-year history.

A source said: "There have been some big games before, but nothing on this scale. We could have sold out 10 times over.”
