Ulinzi Stars head coach Benjamin Nyangweso says he wants more from midfielder Moses Mwangi, as the soldiers play away to Western Stima in today’s Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match at Mumias Complex.

Mwangi was impressive when Ulinzi Stars came from a goal down to beat Sony Sugar 3-1 last weekend.

He was a second-half substitute in the match and scored after coming on for Ezekiel Okare.

“With such performance, Mwangi can play a key role in the team’s campaign this season and in the foreseeable future.

“Against Sony Sugar, he was outstanding, and we all saw that his contribution helped us come from a goal down. The most important thing is that he aided the team win, but he has also set a challenge for himself and has to keep up with the standard.

“He boosted the attack and went on to score. I think if he can sustain that kind of performance, he will be a key player for us,” Nyangweso told the club’s website.

Only one point separates the two sides. Western Stima is second on the log with eight points, and have recently been on an upward trajectory after a slow start of the season.

At Kasarani, Wazito who picked their first win of the season last weekend against Zoo Kericho, host Mathare United in what is expected to be an exciting fixture.

Ahead of the match, Wazito coach Fred Ambani remains confident that he can pick another win as his players are motivated by their exploits in Kericho.

“When you play well but don’t get the desired results, it can sometimes affect your confidence. Last weekend’s win was vital because it gives my boys the much-needed self-belief.

“When you approach matches confidently, chances of getting the desired results are high,” Ambani said.

He added: “We are going for maximum points. We want to build on last weekend’s win and get the three points. We know that it will not be easy because we face a tough side but we are going to give our best.”

On his part, Mathare United coach Salim Ali will be seeking to maintain the team’s unbeaten run in the fourth week of competition.

Elsewhere, Gor Mahia will hope to continue with their winning run in the local league when they take on Zoo Kericho tomorrow.

The league champions are out of the CAF Champions League after losing against Algerian side USM Alger. They know that they can take another shot at the continental championship if they win the league..
