Chui House were outstanding in netball, volleyball, basketball and football at the 2019 Utalii College Sports Day yesterday.

They lead the standings with 21 points, five more than second-placed Faru, who came in second with 16 points. Ndovu and Simba finished third and fourth with 12 and 11 points respectively.

In athletics, Eunice Malenge won the women's 100m race in 19.5 seconds ahead of Irene Bitongo (20.3) and Victoria Mumbi (21.1) while Maurice Papai won men's contest in 15.1 seconds, beating Justus Ochieng (15.4) and  Edward Jirongo who timed 17.1.

In 400m, Diana Kemboi won in 77 seconds ahead of Esther Nekesa (77.2) and Beryl Eshiwani who returned in 83.8 seconds. In the men's race, Brison Adamba won in 54.2 seconds, upstaging Lucas Nato of Ndovu (56.5) and Collins Omondi who stopped the timer in 61 seconds.

Speaking after the competition, Utali College Council Chairman Mwambu Muliro asked students to utilise the institutions' sporting facilities to sharpen their talents.

"Sports brings people together. I am glad all of you showed up for the games and I would like to encourage majority of you to get involved even more in sports since you can make a living from it," he said.

Utalii College Principal and CEO Hashim Mohamed said it was an opportunity for students, staff and senior officials to interact.
