Mwamba is among sides that are looking to beef up its playing unit before the Kenya Rugby Union mid-season transfer window shuts on Friday night.
Kulabu had a slow start to the 2018-19 Kenya Cup season, failing to register a win in the opening three matches.
The Nairobi-based club would however get their campaign back on track by securing back-to-back victories over Nondescript and debutants Menengai Oilers.
Head coach Kevin Wambua hopes that the club can rope in some new faces to bolster their forward line, which, according to him, has been their weak point.
“There are a few players who are on our radar and it will be up to their clubs to give us the green light to sign them,” Wambua said.
During last year’s off-season transfer window, Mwamba secured the services of loose forward Tony Owuor and half-back Elvis Namusasi from Homeboyz and Mombasa RFC.
“We have to see if we can get two or three quality players, preferably forwards since we have one of the best backlines in the league. The newcomers will be key in creating depth in the squad,” said Wambua.
”It is a long season and from the first five matches, my front-row players have been out with injuries and I was even forced to use a reserve hooker,” the Kenya Sevens assistant coach said.
Leading the side to the playoffs remains Wambua’s prime target as Mwamba chase the Kenya Cup title which has been elusive in the past three decades.
“It’s one thing at a time and our focus now is on the next fixture. Of course after the league phase we shall want to be in the play-offs then we can see if we shall be able to go all the way-to the semis or final,” Wambua said.
“Its only one game where we have failed to pick a bonus point and as much as some games may not go our way, we try our best to get something off them,” he said.
