Rio in Kenya! Ferdinand says Man U can stop Liverpool today

Former England and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand believes the English club can bounce back against Liverpool today.

Ferdinand, who is in the country for a two-day tour, admitted he is disappointed by United’s performance this season but believes they have a good chance to bounce to winning ways.

“Manchester United’s performance is very disappointing and especially as a former player we feel it more but during such times, we always looked to big matches.

“Ahead of any big match, you forget about your form or position on the table and winning at Anfield will be a big morale booster. I hope they go there and get the three points as this will help them get themselves back on track,” he said.

The former United defender is in the country for two days courtesy of Guinness. He will meet local football teams at a training camp in Ruaraka today and later meet fans at Uhuru Gardens.

Ferdinand, who spoke on a number of issues, also praised Kenya for making it to next year’s Africa Cup of Nations finals and said it is a great opportunity for Kenyan players to be spotted and scouted.

“Kenya has great talent when you consider that Victor Wanyama plays in England. It is also exciting that they have qualified for the Nations Cup after such a long time. This is a great opportunity for local players to be spotted and signed by European clubs.”

Guinness Brand Manager Nduku Wamakau said they are excited to have brought Ferdinand to Kenya.

She said the United legend will interact with 12 winners of Sh1million each and hopes his presence can inspire other young players as well.
