Arsenal are open to the idea of selling Petr Cech to Chelsea, according to reports.

The 36-year-old shot-stopper left Stamford Bridge for a new challenge in north London back in 2015, after losing his number one spot to Thibaut Courtois.

He has been Arsenal's number one ever since but faces real competition for the first time during his stint with the Emirates club after new boss Unai Emery splashed out £19million on Bernd Leno.

Speculation emerged that Chelsea could re-sign the keeper they deemed surplus to requirements three years ago after Real Madrid showed interest in signing their current shot-stopper Courtois.

Los Blancos have been looking to replace Keylor Navas for the past few seasons, and identified Courtois as a target following his display in the World Cup.

Chelsea were linked with Roma keeper Alisson as a direct result, but the Brazilian appears set to sign for Liverpool - who have had a £67million bid accepted for his services - where he is due to complete a medical on Thursday.

The two other names on Chelsea's radar are Leicester City keeper Kasper Schmeichel, who also had a great World Cup, and Arsenal's Petr Cech.

And according to the Daily Mail, the latter deal appears to be the most likely to happen because Emery is allegedly happy for the shot-stopper to leave.

Unlike his Premier League rivals, Emery doesn't have a large amount of money to work with in the transfer window.

Selling Cech - one of four goalkeepers at Arsenal - would not only streamline the excessive number but would also provide funds to use elsewhere
