Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed how Harry Kane felt after Mo Salah and Jamie Vardy mocked him over his appeal for Stoke goal last weekend.
His claim was fortunately accepted and the goal was awarded to him.
The England striker is desperate to catch Salah and probably win the golden boot and insisted that a goal given to Christian Eriksen was meant for him as he had the last touch before the goal went past the Stoke’s keeper.
Salah has 29 goals while Kane sits at 25 with only six games to go in the Premier League this season.
Speaking ahead of Spurs clash with Manchester City on Saturday, Pochettino reveals that Kane is disappointed at the storm he has caused after the appeal. He also admitted he is worried the City fans will target Kane for his actions.
He was quoted by The Mirror saying, “He is disappointed, because he never wanted to create this.”
Alan Shearer, Gary Lineker and former Liverpool’s John Aldridge also commented on the situation. Shearer and Lineker reacted with posts on twitter.
Aldridge suggested that Salah will now be inspired to make the Golden Boot his own, but Pochettino insisted that the he don’t believe the Liverpool talisman needs this situation to be inspired.
"I don’t believe that. I don’t believe it. I don’t believe Salah needs this situation to be inspired. Come on!
“For everyone else, sometimes, it is a small or simple thing that has become bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger and you cannot stop it. That was what happened.
“Harry is going to learn a lot from this. Of course he never thought that this situation was going to go on to such big things when he was so, so, so, so certain that he touched the ball.
“It’s normal that [Salah] was a little bit disappointed, because of course Harry Kane and all of our players have Twitter, Instagram, everything.
“Tottenham fans will back Harry Kane, but other fans will kill him. People have opinions, but that is normal."
