Harambee Stars suffer early set back as preparation for CECAFA begins

Harambee Stars lines up for match in previous fixture against Congo

National soccer team Harambee Stars are beginning their preparation for the forthcoming CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup set begin on December 3. Stars reported to their training camp on Sunday, November 26, where they will be training as they sharpen up for the opening match against Rwanda.

However, the team has suffered an early set back thanks to an injury that has hit Gor Mahia defender Harun Shakava. Shakava picked up an injury before even reporting for training sessions, and has since been ruled out of the entire tournament.

Zoo Kericho defender Isaac Kipyegon has been called up to fill up the void left by Shakava. His teammate Nicholas Kipkirui has also received a call-up to the national side. Head Coach Paul Put has taken up his preparatory duties officially as he seeks to pinch out wins out of the upcoming games in the regional tournament. Stars have been drawn against Rwanda, Libya, Zanzibar and Tanzania.
