Gor Mahia club management and the coaching staff teamed up to visit their injured defender Karim Nizigiyimana  at his home where they presented him with Sportpesa Premier League Champions medal and SPL trophy that they lifted on November 18, Saturday in Kisumu.

Club Chairman Ambrose Rachier, head coach Dylan Kerr and his Assistant Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno paid a courtesy call to spend time with the Burundian player. Nizigiyimana missed the last 5 games after getting a serious injury during K’ogalo’s tie against Thika United, which has been relegated.

The father of two relies on the crutches for his movements, and has been unable to attend celebratory functions conducted by the Green Army after lifting their 16th league cup. However, the duration that his injury is expected to take remains unclear. But the club may only be hopeful that he shall have recovered by the closure of the recess period.

Mr Rachier assured the Burundian defender that the club will remain committed by paying his salary in full as well as ensuring that he gets the required medical support to his full recovery. He added that Nizigiyimana will remain Gor Mahia’s play despite the impending long duration that he will spend sidelined.

He however lamented the poor conditions of the football pitches as the main contributors of such injuries, adding than had Thika United had a better pitch, such a tragedy would have been avoided. Gor is looking forward to representing Kenya in the CAF Championships.
