Muhoroni find no sweetness at home as they fall to Chemelil Sugar

Brian Yakhama scored in stoppage time as visiting Nzoia beat Nakumatt 1-0 at Ruaraka Stadium yesterday.

The match was headed for a barren draw after both sides had failed to score in full time.

Nzoia will be happy to return home with three points considering they had lost 3-1 to Sofapaka in a midweek tie at Kasarani Stadium.

It was Nakumatt who showed more determination to go ahead as Peter Nzuki and Kepha Aswani were denied by Mustapha Oduor in Nzoia’s goal.

Nzoia also threatened when Lawrence Juma was denied by Ezekiel Owade in goal for Nakumatt.

Inspired by that miss, Nzoia were finally rewarded when Luke Namanda picked out Yakhama to score in injury time.

Elsewhere, hosts Muhoroni Sugar, suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of Chemelil Sugar in another league match yesterday.

Muhoroni had beaten Thika United 2-0 in midweek and were hoping to pick three more points and more away from relegation places.

They started strongly with Kennedy Rono’s corner kick threatening the visitors.

Then Maxwell Onyango proved wasteful inside the first ten minutes.

Things turned ugly for the visitors at the quarter hour mark when Erastus Mwaniki was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Despite having a one-man advantage, Muhoroni Youth could not break the deadlock going into the break.

But second half substitute Collins Neto made all the difference with his goal in the 80th minute after being fed by Yussuf Juma.

In Narok, Sofapaka came from a goal down to hold Posta Rangers to a 1-1 tie in a top of the bill fixture.

Kennedy Otieno’s early goal in the 15th minute had put Rangers ahead.

Sofapaka were saved from losing at home by a late goal from Ezekiel Okare.
