Champions Nyakach will today lock horns with old foes Kobala Mixed in girls’ football final as curtains fall on Nyanza Region Term Two B games at Homa Bay High School.

Nyakach, who are seeking to successfully defend their title, thrashed Gesero Mixed 2-0 in the semi-finals to book a date with Kobala, who edged Bishop Okulu Magare Girls 1-0 in the other last four encounter.

This will be their third meeting since 2015. Kobala won in their first encounter before Nyakach returned the favour by the same margin in group stage. Kobala, who won silver in 2015, will be seeking to secure a return to the nationals, while Nyakach will be seeking to defend their honour.

Kobala captain Yvonne Ogada said they would settle for nothing less than the trophy.

“We are ready to dethrone them. Last year we lacked ambition and lost our title, but everything has changed, and we are focused on the ultimate goal,” Ogada said.

St Anne’s Sega are a match away from retaining their crown. They defeated rivals Lwak Girls 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-19) in a repeat of Siaya County final to book a place in today’s final. They will play Sengera SDA, who beat Dede 3-1 in the second semis tie.

The boys’ volleyball champion will be decided through a round-robin format after three of group B contestants were disqualified for fielding ineligible players. The three are Mogonga from Kisii, Our Lady of Mercy Ringa Boys (Homa Bay) and Olembo Mixed (Kisumu).
