Football: Omotto on target as Korogocho Youth ease past Githurai United

Kariobangi Sharks midfielder Patillah Omotto and FC Talanta forward Eric Kapaito were on target as Korogocho Youth defeated Githurai United 2-1 in the ongoing Nairobi Governor's Cup football championships.

William Njuguna scored Githurai United's consolation goal in the contest at Kariobangi North Primary School grounds on Sunday.

Fans' favourites Terror Squad also laboured before winning 1-0 against Kayole Asubuhi FC, which features in the SportPesa Super Eight league. Stephen Khauka scored Terror's all-important goal.

In the women's category, Harambee Starlets captain Mary Kinuthia was instrumental in Fancy Girls Unlimited's 3-1 victory against Kariobangi Sports Ladies. Kinuthia was on target, same as Dorcas Kemunto and Jackline Karambu. Diana Wacera got a consolation goal for Kariobangi Sports.

In another contest, Kasarani Queens drew 1-1 against Kayole Starlets. Catherine Awuor scored for Kasarani, while Elizabeth Wanyonyi ensured parity moments later.

Several matches were played at the Kihumbuini grounds, with Kangemi Ladies FC losing 2-0 to Beijing Raiders.

Musa Ladies FC also held Kangemi Ladies FC to a 2-2 draw. Roda Mulamba and Sylvia Madegwa scored for Musa Ladies, while Margaret Nyambura scored a brace for Kangemi Ladies. [Erick Ochieng']
