We postponed our wedding at first, but now it looks like it may not even happen

Living

I was engaged in December 2016 to be married on 4 March 2017.

We started preparing for the wedding and signing agreements with service providers, even making deposit payments, and all that pertains to wedding preparations. Then on 30 January 2017, my mother in-law was involved in a grisly road accident while travelling to Western Kenya for a short visit. We all reside in Nairobi, but then we didn't know of the accident until 2 February, since she went mteja and we presumed the network in the village was the main issue, as always.

We managed to trace Mum, and found her unconscious in a local Molo Health Centre and had to transfer her to a hospital with an ICU or HDU amidst the doctors' strike; it was such a hustle but we got room at Nakuru War Memorial, after calling almost all functioning private hospitals in Nairobi. She survived with hip and leg fractures and multiple fractures on her skull, but has been responding well to treatment so far (4 months now). We have been travelling every week to Nakuru to take care of her - in shifts between weekdays and weekends.

So we had to postpone the wedding, since she was the only parent to my fiancé after his dad was murdered in 2010. The fruit cake was ready, but had to be sold, the cards were all ready and we still have them in the groom’s house, most of the wedding details were already set, but had to be removed. We had to wait for Mum to regain consciousness and attend the wedding. She is up now, her memory is not fully back, but she remembers a few things

All the money we had, we've spent it on her bills. She has undergone multiple surgeries, about 7 of them, and it would take ksh.3 million to discharge her and proceed with the wedding. It’s been a rough journey and now 3 million stands between us and the wedding. Let me not think of a honeymoon, since we have spent the money we had to settle some of the bills.
