11 killed in an accident in north Nigeria

Eleven people were killed Saturday when the two cars they were riding in collided head-on in northern Nigeria, police has said.

All occupants in the two vehicles died on the spot in the collision in Kwanar Gujungu, a town in Taura local government area of Jigawa state, state police spokesperson Lawan Shiisu said Sunday.

He blamed the collision on speeding by the drivers of the two cars.

Deadly road accidents are frequently reported in Nigeria, often caused by overloading, bad road conditions, and reckless driving.
