Police officers and boda boda riders in Nakuru on Saturday, October 2, challenged each other to a football match.

The cops wore yellow jerseys and the riders sported blue jerseys during the match held at the Nakuru ASK Showground.

Light language dominated the contest, as police officers could be heard telling each other to “arrest” them (riders), as the riders responded, asking each to “disarm” the cops.

The match was organised by Nakuru County Police Commander Beatrice Kiraguri.

“I organised the match to help us thaw relations with the boda boda riders,” Kiraguri told The Standard.

“Most times, boda boda riders are perceived to be unruly and members of criminal gangs. We’d like to inculcate a culture that allows us, as police officers, to work closely with the boda boda riders in weeding out criminals,” she added.

Among those who spectated the match are police commanders from different sub-counties in Nakuru.

As of the time of publishing this story, the scores were level at 1-1, and the match was in the second-half.
