A man was arrested by police officers at Kisima Trading Centre in Samburu Central sub-county after being found in possession of a hundred bullets.

Samburu County Police Commander Samson Ogelo said the suspect was arrested at about 6 pm by police officers who were patrolling the area.

“Police who were patrolling Kisima Centre received a tip-off from members of the public that there was a man carrying suspicious goods, the officers searched the suspect and recovered 100 bullets from him before detaining him at Kisima Police Station and then later transferred to Maralal Police Station,” he said.

He said officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) are investigating the incident as the suspect is expected to appear before a Maralal court by end of today where he will be charged with being in possession of bullets without a permit from the government.

“Our officers are investigating to establish where he was taking the bullets and the intended purpose,” he said.

The county commander commended members of the public for working with the police to ensure the suspect was arrested.

He urged them to continue working with the government to prevent insecurity in the area by reporting suspicious people and criminal plans to police for an action to be taken to prevent crime.

“ I ask residents to continue reporting such incidences to the police on time so that we can prevent crime in his area,” he said.
