Three terror suspects arrested in Kitale

Two British nationals and a Kenyan have been arrested on suspicion of engaging in terrorism-related activities.

County Commissioner Sammy Ojwang said the suspects were arrested at a hotel and taken to Kitale Police Station for interrogation.

The commissioner said three men were later taken to Nairobi for further questioning by anti-terrorism police.

Invalid documents

Speaking during Madaraka Day celebrations at Namanjalala grounds in Kwanza Constituency on Saturday, Mr Ojwang said the suspects who had invalid travel documents were found engaging in suspicious activities, including filming of various public institutions.

The official said the suspects arrived in Kitale town two months ago and have been engaging in activities that have raised the eyebrows of security agencies and residents of the county.

He said detectives were also probing financial transactions between the British nationals and the Kenyan, after it emerged that millions of shillings had been wired to the latter's bank account.

He said the trio had been on police radar for days before the arrest.
