Pokot West County Governor wants Treasury to release delayed funds

Governor Simon Kachapin has protested the Treasury's delay in disbursing county funds, saying this has crippled services in his government. Mr Kachapin said the county government is facing a lot of pressure to offer critical services to residents.

"We have not received funds for August and September from the Treasury, which has made us unable to implement most of our projects," he said.

Speaking after unveiling new theatre equipment at Kapenguria County Hospital, the governor noted that the county government has been struggling to pay health workers because there is no money from the Treasury. He pointed out that the national government should stop undermining county governments by sitting on funds.

"We have struggled to pay staff for two months but as a government, we are committed to ensuring better services to the people," added Kachapin.

He said his government is working on a plan to ensure improved health services for everybody in his county.
