Cleric raises alarm over con preachers

A religious leader in Naivasha has raised an alarm over the emergence of fake preachers who are fleecing unsuspecting Christians of thousands of shillings in the name of prayers.

The leaders are now calling on the Government to vet all religious leaders in the country, noting many were only out to make a quick shilling.

This came as an ailing teenager whose family lost money to fake preachers was rescued from a village in Naivasha.

According to Pastor Mary Mwihaki from Prayers Faith Church, the fake preachers were traversing rural areas in Naivasha where unsuspecting residents were falling into their trap.

“We have never seen this before but we urge residents to be cautious of these men and women who are using the word of God to rob people,” she said.

Ms Mwihaki noted that Kenyans in the rural areas were unaware of these cartels who had been collecting money in return for “wonders from above”.
