Kajiado County: A school’s management in Kajiado County has been ordered to stop quarrying in the school compound as the activity exposes the pupils to danger.

The committee at Ole Kasasi Primary School in Ongata Rongai area has also been warned against transacting any business concerning the school land without the consent of the county government. The warning was issued by the County Education Executive Ali Letura Kispan and Senator Peter ole Mositet.

The leaders accompanied by the area ward representative Mwathi Pere visited the school yesterday after getting reports that a Chinese road company was planning to start quarrying within the school.

They also said the business was illegal. “We understand that schools can utilise the land in projects but this is illegal and dangerous,” said Mositet. But all those whose signatures appeared on the National Environment Management Authority documents denied the claims of having further details on the Chinese company which is said to have paid Sh60,000 fee to the authority to certify the business.
