Valentine’s Day rush for top female stars

By Stevens Muendo

Three award-winning songstresses Wahu, Habida and Avril have made a head start in the local showbiz scene by releasing new hits, which could as well divine the direction the music scene will take this year — or well, it could just be a Valentine’s Day rush.

In a span of four days, the celebrated singers seemed to engineer the cold-war ruling local female stars as each released their new songs in different occasions.

Wahu, an MTV-Award winner, released the long awaited Still a liar video on Friday, the same day Habida, another gem in local entertainment, launched her Kipusa single. It had only been three days since Ogopa’s finest, Avril, launched her fresh hit Kitu Kimoja love ballad.

Wahu’s new Still a Lair single — a fresh touch of the original girly-girly girl the singer was seven years ago, revokes memories of the celebrity’s one time hit single Liar, and has critics crediting it as one of the must hits of 2012. Unlike Lair, Still a Liar is mastered with more lyrical prowess justifying her growth through out the years to the continental stardom she has now attained.

Habida, now popular for her award-winning Nameless collaboration single Sunshine is credited for her captivating voice and looks, which seem to be the driving force behind her new Kipusa track.
