Deputy President William Ruto has urged the Kamba community to support Jubilee, as 7 MPs from the region said no amount of intimidation will stop them from working with government.

Ruto told members of Kamba community that they stand to benefit from Jubilee as opposed to the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) that they are currently aligned to.

Speaking at Kasikeu Secondary School in Kilome Constituency, Makueni County on Wednesday, the Deputy President said the Opposition had no agenda for Kenyans.

“I wish to ask the people of Ukambani to forget what happened in 2013 and support Jubilee come 2017 elections. We know you supported them then but this time let us walk this road together,” said Ruto.

Ruto was accompanied by MPs Regina Ndambuki (Kilome), Joe Mutambo (Mwingi Central), John Munuve (Mwingi North), Munyao Kisoi (Mbooni), Rachel Nyamai (Kitui West), Richard Makenga (Kaiti), Dennis Waweru (Dagoretti) and former MPs Kalembe Ndile and Prof Philip Kaloki.

The MPs said they will continue to work with the Government in solving challenges facing the people of Ukambani despite repeated censures from the Cord leadership.

“What we want is development and not mere politicking. We are working with Jubilee for the sake of development of our people,” said Mr. Mutambo.

“We have resolved to work with the Government and nothing will shake us in doing this. Petty politicking cannot take us anywhere,” said Mr Kisoi.

The leaders told the Kamba community to make a wise decision and support Jubilee come the next election if they are to be part of the winning team.

“It is upon our people to make a wise decision. They should either support Jubilee if they want to be part of the Government or continue sticking with Opposition which is not taking us anywhere,” said Mr Mutambo.

Gender and Youth Affairs Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki and Makueni deputy governor Adelina Mwau were also present.
