Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has asked the Kamba community to throw their weight behind Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka in next year's General Election.

Speaking in Matungulu Constituency in Machakos, Mr Muthama said the former Vice President is the only experienced leader, who can face off with other key politicians in agitating for the interests of the community at the national level.

In an apparent reference to the ongoing supremacy contest between Kalonzo and Governor Alfred Mutua, Muthama says it is high time the community charted its political path and consolidated its political unity.

Governor Mutua, has however, dismissed his critics as non-visionary and self-centered politicians envious of his development record.

Shortly after he returned from the United Arab Emirates where he had been on official trip, Dr Mutua declared his government would continue working for residents undeterred by 'empty rhetoric' advanced by his haters.

"My government is committed to initiating programmes aimed at improving service delivery to the people. We will not listen to few dissenting voices that have no agenda for a good course of our people," declared Mutua.

Separately, several MCAs, led by Stephen Muthuka (Ndalani Ward) challenged the county government to demonstrate how it had utilised over Sh25 billion so far disbursed to the devolved unit since 2013.

The MCAs, who spoke during the burial of Kangundo North MCA's brother, Francis Matheka, claimed the county administration had failed to take cognizance of the critical needs of the residents, but instead concentrated on projects that only served the interests of few corrupt individuals.
