I'm confident Jubilee will win 2017 polls, says Ruto

Deputy President William Ruto has expressed confidence that Jubilee will defeat the Opposition with a big margin in 2017.

The DP said the ruling coalition will retain power due to its performance record and asked supporters not to be in any doubt.

Speaking yesterday at Gitwamba in Trans-Nzoia County, the DP said the Opposition lacked focus on Kenyans' needs. He cautioned Rift Valley residents against gambling with the regions' vote, noting their vote is critical for Jubilee's victory.

"We can forgive you for gambling with your vote in the last polls because you believed that CORD would win but you have seen the reality. Don't make the same mistake in 2017," he warned.

The DP said Kenyans have confidence in the Jubilee administration and that he had no doubts they would support and re-elect President Uhuru Kenyatta and himself as a deputy.

The Government, he said, is committed and interested in addressing economic challenges facing Kenyans and not engaging in political rhetoric. "Our major task is to deliver services to Kenyans and we are not interested in rhetoric and useless debates by the Opposition," said Ruto.

Trans-Nzoia Woman Representative Janet Nangabo and Saboti MP David Lazaro cautioned the Luhya community against following the Opposition blindly, claiming Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang'ula would not get CORD's presidential ticket.

"For how long are our people going to follow the Opposition blindly? Let us support the Government and our neighbour Ruto to succeed President Kenyatta in 2022 and thereafter, he will reciprocate by supporting us," said Nangabo.

Endebess MP Robert Pokuse and Nangabo assured the DP that they would support Jubilee and ensure it captures the majority of seats.

"The Opposition should tell Kenyans who is their flag bearer because it seems Raila is imposing himself as the preferred candidate and has sidelined Kalonzo," claimed Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.
