CORD leader Raila Odinga to publicly name state officers in Eurobond saga

The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader Raila Odinga has given Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko a three-day ultimatum to name state officers involved in Eurobond saga failure to which he will publicly name them.

Raila also threatened to say the truth about the money if the DPP fails to release the information about the money to Kenyans.

He faulted the DPP for ordering the Auditor General to carry out fresh investigations and instead asked him to tell Kenyans whether the money was squandered or name the projects for which it was used for.

He was speaking at a rally in Ugunja sub-county, Siaya County.

"Show us proof that the money is really there. Stop joking with Kenyans and if you do not tell Kenyans about the Eurobond, I will tell them. I am sure even the Central bank governor Patrick Ngugi cannot swear to this money ever being deposited in the bank because he is a Christian," said Raila.

He asked Tobiko to give information on the day the money was deposited, the particular bank where the money was deposited and the certificate of proof on the same since he is claiming there was no corruption on the Eurobond saga.

DPP had ordered the Ethics and anti-corruption commission (EACC) to probe the use of the funds after opposition leader Raila Odinga said the government could not account for Sh140 billion.

The DPP said that EACC has found no evidence that part of the Sh250 billion raised from a Eurobond has been stolen by government but has called for an audit into related projects.

Raila has however insisted that the money was never deposited anywhere in the country and EACC never did any investigations on the lost money.

"The lost money is the major cause of the serious economic crisis in our country. They hide money and think we are not aware. We are not stupid because we know a lot of things. We know they want to borrow again," Raila said.

Raila maintained that if the money had been brought in the country the economy would not have suffered a crisis and the interest rates, inflation rates would have been low.

Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi supported Raila claiming that they will not allow window dressing in the fight against corruption.

Wandayi said that the file cannot be closed until the truth about the Eurobond is established to Kenyans.

"The EACC claim that nobody stole the money yet it is clear that money was stolen? They are in a hurry to close the fail yet they have investigated anything. We will not accept and we will not be taken for a ride by the jubilee government," said Wandayi.
