ODM's Moses Kajwang’ caught up in ODM clash

Orange Democratic Movement Senator Moses Kajwang was whisked away after he was caught up in wrangles between ODM officials in Kericho County.

Mr Kajwang, who was addressing the Press at a Kericho hotel accompanied by Odhiambo Martin, who claims to be ODM’s chairman in the county, was forced to cut short his address after Simon Koech, who also claims to be the ODM chairman, stormed the meeting.

The Koech faction accused Kajwang of allegedly sneaking into the county to hold meetings with individuals they termed as strangers to the party.

However, Mr Odhiambo’s team claimed that he (Odhiambo) was duly elected as the chairman during the recent elections that were held on September 30 at Highlands Primary School.

Officers from Kericho Police Station, led by Deputy OCS Daniel Ochieng, were called to Sunshine Upperhill Hotel where they whisked Mr Koech and Odhiambo to the police station to record statements.

Koech claimed his spectacles worth Sh30, 000 were broken during the melee.

Odhiambo launched a counter-claim that he had lost “huge sums of money”.

During his address, Kajwang had assured party members that ODM elections would be open, free and fair.

 Not afraid

“ODM is the only party that is not afraid of elections. This time around we are going to show the way and no violence will be witnessed during the party elections,” he said.

He had also faulted the Jubilee government for allegedly leading the country into ruins.

He said the economy was in tatters and the education sector was in a mess after the Government failed to resolve teachers’ pay dispute.

He said the Opposition was ready to pursue an impeachment motion against President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“We have not abandoned the idea of impeaching President Uhuru Kenyatta since the Jubilee government has demonstrated that it doesn’t have the know-how and capacity to lead the country,” he added

Exam fiasco

He nonetheless said that they would start with impeachment motion against Education Cabinet Secetary Jacob Kaimenyi over the exam fiasco.

The lawmaker also said CORD would hold prayer rallies for Deputy President William Ruto over his tribulations at the ICC.

“What is delaying the plans to launch the prayers is El Nino rain and we would not like to disrupt agricultural and other activities in South Rift region where we planned to begin the rallies,” he said.

At the weekend, South Rift MPs led by Benjamin Lang’at (Ainamoi), Joseph Limo (Kipkelion East) and Jackson Rop (Kipkelion West) had told CORD co-principals led by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga that they were not welcomed in the region to hold any prayers.
