Museveni could put Uhuru into trouble with his tongue

By Standard reporter

Nairobi,Kenya:Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Ugandan President and now East Africa’s  seniormost head of state is never known to mince his words. But his words have been known to put people in hot soup. Just ask Dr Kizza Besigye.

That’s why President Uhuru  and all Kenyans who wish him well should be very concerned by Museveni’s recent concerns. At the African Union summit last week, the Ugandan President alleged that a plot was afoot to detain Uhuru at The Hague when his trial begins in July. Of course that is far-fetched as we all know ICC cannot detain Uhuru or any other Kenyan facing charges at The Hague as long as they abide—and they have vowed to do that—with court’s conditions.

The danger in Museveni’s  allegation, coupled with the stand adopted by African heads of state on the Kenyan case, is that ICC could interpret it to mean that Africa is silently plotting to have Uhuru keep off the trials. The court obviously isn’t amused by Museveni. And although it is unlikely judges can detain Uhuru, you never know what steps they can take because of this allegation. Someone please advise M7 to watch his tongue.
