Many male contestants who lost in the General Election have reportedly taken second wives so that they can get some comfort, away from their nagging spouses, who want a full account of family assets squandered in quest for political office.

I didn't know political failure comes with "spousal" dividends - I'd certainly have tried a hand at politics - knowing failure at every cycle comes with a new spouse! But before we laugh this off as utopia in Kenya's siasa, the Gender Violence Recovery Centre says by contrast, women who failed at the polls have been battered by their spouses for not converting investment in their campaigns into a tangible benefit.
