MCSK partners with Channel O nominees

The Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) is working with Kenya’s Channel O nominees to ensure that they bring home the glory come the November gala night.

The awards will be held at Sandton Convention Centre in South Africa.

Through an initiative spearheaded by the giant music society, the artistes will have an engineered town to town vote search campaign in addition to other modalities put in place to ensure the voting buzz materializes.

Norway-based Kenya singer STL has been nominated in the Most Gifted Video and Most Gifted Video categories (Lookie Lookie) while Wyre and Nazizi have been nominated in the Most Gifted Ragga Video (for She Say Dat and Take the People Away respectively).

Jaguar’s Kigeugeu has a nod in the Most Gifted East African Video category while Collo’s Chini ya Maji will battle it out for the Most Gifted Hip-hop Video award.

"Our artistes are talented and they deserve all the support we can accord them. In the past, it was left entirely to the artistes to hunt votes for themselves.

This can be hard and that could explain why they hardly win," said Maurice Okoth, the MCSK CEO.

"We want to enhance their voting campaign and give them whatever other help they need in making sure that the gongs come home. Whatever it takes for them to get votes, we will do," he added.

It has been a month since public voting for the 2011 Channel O Music Video Awards opened.

Voting will close on 27 October 2011.
