Police in Kisumu are holding three people suspected of killing and burying a middle aged man in one of the suspects house.

Kisumu West Director of Criminal Investigations Abel Kavoo Monday led the exhumation exercise of the body at Kanyawegi village, in Usare.

According to Kavoo, concerned residents reported to police after strong stench started coming out of the suspect's house on January 1.

At the time, the suspect had stopped staying in his house, and was being hosted at a neighbor's house.

When police visited the scene, they discovered a heap of soil at the middle of the sitting room, with the strong stench.

Mr Kavoo said the suspects were co-operating with the investigators, and they are likely to be charged with murder.

By the time of going to press, the deceased had not been identified, with Mr Kavoo asking the public to come out and help locating the kins of the deceased who appeared to be a man in his early 30s.

"The body is very decomposed and could not be identified, hence we will be relying on other methods of identification," he said.

At the time of exhumation, the body was found to have been wrapped in a blanket, a trouser, and a shirt.?
